Old Bangkok Bicycle Tour

Cosmopolitan Bangkok has many influences from the past that have shaped its present. A great way to slow down and discover secret spots is on a bicycle.  Roadbook takes you down back alleyways to lost temples, and by boat to well-kept secret spots. You’ll visit traditional markets, cross the Chao Phraya river to the quieter side of the city and visit hidden parks and an artist community. We stop for lunch at an authentic wooden house and get a taste of the many flavors that influence Thai cuisine. We’ll see students perform a traditional show. This is a fun 30-kilometer ride through Bangkok’s hidden neighborhoods that involves navigating narrow alleys, tight corners, and bridges over canals. Experience a unique and adventurous ride through the city most tourists will never see!

What to expect

In the morning, Roadbook will meet you at your hotel lobby and transfer you to your bicycle in the old town of Bangkok. We cycle past shops selling Buddhas large and small. We’ll meet some vendors at the Flower Market and cycle through Chinatown and visit historical sites. We cross the Chao Phraya River via ferry to find calmer surroundings. Here our trail changes pace, winding gently through the back roads of Thonburi district. Off the beaten track, we’ll see lesser-known temples, markets, and sites. Trading our bikes for a private longtail boat we explore the many canals that comprise Bangkok. The boat will drop us at the National Museum of Royal Barges so we can visit the most resplendent boats used for ceremonies.
